11th Year Scholarship to Sriwijaya University StudentsTuesday, 05 March 2019
Marubeni has committed to continue to fulfill corporate’s responsibilities as a member of the international community by providing stronger financial assistance for education purposes in Indonesia in the form of a scholarship through “Yayasan Beasiswa Marubeni” or hereinafter referred to as (“YBM”) which was founded in 1999. This year marks the 20th year of YBM to support the students who have financial difficulty but having good academic achievement as well as to strengthen its social contribution to Indonesia.
Sriwijaya University (“University”) as scholarship recipient university is very important for Marubeni because University is our strategic partner due to its location, the center of South Sumatra province, where there are two Marubeni Group companies; PT Tanjung Enim Lestari - pulp and paper producer, and PT Musi Hutan Persada - forest plantation company. YBM has supported hundreds of Universities alumni since 2008.
The eleventh scholarship ceremony is conducted on January 30, 2019. YBM has decided to give the scholarship to 21 students amounted to IDR 5 million for a year on each which is distributed quarterly. This decision represents Marubeni’s commitment to build a good human resources through the education support in Indonesia. YBM will support the students to give them good study environment and the academic achievement. YBM would also like to contribute to increase the students’ quality of the University and the Indonesian’s young people.
The scholarship is symbolically given by Mr. Takeshi Mamiya - Chairman of Advisory Board of YBM as well as President Director of PT. Marubeni Indonesia, accompanied by Mr. Shinichiro Kido - Treasury of YBM as well as Risk Management Director of PT Marubeni Indonesia, and Mr. Harly Setiabudi - Secretary of YBM as well as General manager of HR and General Affair of PT Marubeni Indonesia.
The Management of PT Tanjung Enim Lestari and PT Musi Hutan Persada also attends to the ceremony.
