Organization of the Inauguration Ceremony of Cirebon IPP Project in Indonesia

Marubeni Corporation is pleased to announce that the construction of the Cirebon coal-fired power plant, into which Marubeni invests, has been completed and begun its commercial operation. To celebrate this milestone event, the inauguration ceremony was held on October 18, 2012 at the plant site.

The ceremony was attended by approximately 200 people, including the guest of honor, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E Jero Wacik, the Minister of BKPM (Investment Coordinating Board), H.E Chatib Basri, the President Director of PT PLN (Persero), Mr. Nur Pamuji, and the other government related guests such as the Head of Cirebon Agency, the embassy of Japan, the embassy of South Korea, the project sponsors and construction company, the lenders such as Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), the Export-Import Bank of Korea, and the other commercial banks (Sumitomo Mitsui Bank Corporation, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd., Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd., Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd., and ING Bank N.V) and the local residents.

The generated electricity will be supplied to West Java area centered on Jakarta for 30 years. Considering the heavily increasing power demand in accordance to the rapid economic growth, we will contribute to the Indonesian economic growth through stable power supply. The Cirebon power plant introduces supercritical technology, a new technology which realizes lower CO2 emissions, higher efficiency and environmentally-friendly power generation using the generation technology by higher pressure and higher temperature compared to the traditional sub-critical technology.

Marubeni places the overseas power business as one of the strategic business fields in the company, and is continuing to build up the global portfolio. Marubeni will continue to contribute to the development of the power business sector which is the basic infrastructure in Asia and all over the world.
