Granting 7th Year Scholarship of Yayasan Beasiswa Marubeni to University of Indonesia

To support young’s people education and upbringing in emerging countries, Marubeni has established Marubeni Scholarship Foundation mainly in the ASEAN region, including Indonesia, established in 1999 under the name of “Yayasan Beasiswa Marubeni” or hereinafter referred to as “YBM”. The scholarship is an application of Marubeni Corporation’s corporate social responsibility (“CSR”), which shows company’s commitment to support the students who have financial difficulty but having good academic achievement as well as to strengthen its social contribution to Indonesia. University of Indonesia has become one of the company’s CSR targets by having disbursed scholarship to the university since September 2011. This scholarship program is also along with Marubeni’s mission to give positive contribution to regional economies and societies and building a prosperous society as well as enriching the lives of people.

This January 15, 2018, marks the seventh year of scholarship granting to University of Indonesia by YBM. Since 2012, the foundation is not only covering the tuition fee, but also covering living cost of scholarship recipients, and we still commit to do so in this year. Started from the study year 2015-2016, YBM has decided to increase the amount of scholarship recipient from previously 10 students to 12 students with the amount still IDR 16,000,000 per year per student. This is proof that Marubeni committed to contribute to Indonesia by building a great human resource in Indonesia through the University of Indonesia which is the best universities in Indonesia.

YBM intends to support and keep the spirit of the students to study and learn in order to make them finish their study on schedule. The academic achievement of the students is also being encouraged in order to increase the students’ quality of the university and the Indonesian young people in general. The scholarship is symbolically given by the Chairman of Advisory Board of YBM as well as the President Director of PT. Marubeni Indonesia, Mr. Tomofumi Fukuda, accompanied by the Chairman of Executive Board of Yayasan Beasiswa Marubeni as well as the Finance Director of PT. Marubeni Indonesia, Mr. Akinobu Mizumoto.

Marubeni Corporation has committed to continue to fulfill corporate’s responsibilities as a member of the international community by providing stronger financial assistance for education purposes in Indonesia. Since its establishment, YBM has been supporting 1237 university student in Indonesia.
